Want more clients for your B2B tech business?
Herkess Marketing helps small B2B technology businesses to dial up their marketing activity without spending a fortune.
It offers a range of complementary traditional and digital marketing services that a specialist B2B tech marketing agency would offer, but for a much lower cost.
Herkess is run by Emma Radcliffe, a fractional marketer with over 20 years’ experience. She has worked with a wide range of tech businesses over the years, both in-house and in respected marketing and PR agencies, helping them to generate quality leads, improve their reputation and brand.
Our founder has worked in marketing and PR agencies for more than a decade, so the quality of work delivered by Herkess is very much to the standard you would expect from a standard tech marketing agency.
She has worked in-house for different technology businesses and developed the skills needed for bringing in a steady stream of high quality new business leads on a tight budget.
So, with Herkess Marketing you get a good breadth and quality of services, an appreciation of the importance of predictable lead generation, and prices that are less than half what a standard marketing agency would charge.
There are two key types of B2B tech company that Herkess marketing is best at working with:
Small, established B2B tech companies whose growth has plateaued (or is starting to do so). They have some solid, happy clients, but haven't really invested much in professional marketing and feel like they could achieve more. Herkess will help you refine your messaging to make your business more appealing to your ideal target clients. We'll also help you use lead generation techniques to make you more effective at business development.
Ambitious startups that have big plans but limited marketing budgets. Often, these businesses have a brilliant offering, a clear plan of action, and a good team. But they're usually stretched to capacity and need more resource to be able to hit their growth targets. That’s where Herkess comes in. We'll help you to drastically increase the amount of marketing activity you can do, which will get the wheels of your lead generation machine turning faster.
Herkess works with companies like these and helps them:
understand their target audience
develop a clear roadmap to growth
refine their messaging
identify what existing marketing activity is working best and do more of it
work out what’s not working as well and stop doing it/do less of it
try new cost-effective tactics
solve problems
We'll help you build a strategy that’s clear, focused, achievable and then we'll just start getting on with achieving it so you can start seeing real results from your marketing efforts.
“Emma Radcliffe came in and immediately made our marketing better. She brought the brand to life, wrote stuff people actually wanted to read, and helped us attract better leads”
Over the years we’ve built up a lot of experience so we have a pretty broad marketing skillset. We offer the following traditional and digital marketing services to B2B tech businesses.
As most of our clients are smaller tech businesses, we tend to work for them in a fractional marketing manager role. Rather than them paying for individual services, they just tell Herkess what their business goals are, what their budget is, and together we'll work out what the activity should be and prioritise the time they pay for accordingly. This plan is agreed between both parties and then we'll just get on with the work to help you to meet your objectives as quickly and efficiently as we can.
Herkess can also work as a specialist, focussing on just one or two areas of marketing.

B2B tech SEO isn’t just about getting found, it’s about getting found by the right people.
We’ll start your SEO activity with an audit to understand how well optimised your site is and what’s been done so far. We’ll do some keyword research to find out exactly what your potential clients are searching for. From there, We’ll optimise your site’s copy and metadata for the right keywords and write new material where necessary. We will also look for ways to build your online authority by getting backlinks to your site. Together, this approach will help you rank for the terms that matter most.
Our founder, Emma, has a background in PR and copywriting, so we know how to craft messaging that resonates, and is both search-friendly and human-friendly. That means your content won’t just rank, it'll be designed to help you convert leads too. Whether you’re a SaaS startup or a B2B tech services firm, SEO is a key part of your lead generation engine. We’ll make sure it’s working in sync with your wider marketing strategy, helping you attract, engage, and win the right kind of business.
Although SEO is our main focus - because it’s more cost-effective and builds long-term visibility - there are times when paid search (PPC) can give your marketing a helpful boost. If your site is new, your SEO is probably still gaining traction. You may also be targeting highly competitive keywords that are tough to rank for organically, PPC can help you get in front of the right people fast. It’s a great way to test messaging, drive short-term traffic, and support lead generation while your organic presence grows in the background.
PPC should never be something just set up and left running or you could waste a lot of money. We’ll monitor your campaigns closely to make sure they’re delivering real value by tracking cost-per-click, conversion rates, and overall return on investment. With a background in PR and copywriting, we know how to write ads that get noticed and landing pages that convert. So, whether we’re using PPC as a short-term fix or a longer-term complement to your SEO, you can be confident it’s working hard for your budget and your business goals.
Great content marketing isn’t just about showing off what your tech can do, it’s about making sure your audience understands why it matters. Whether it’s a blog post, case study, whitepaper, or sales collateral, we write with your end customer in mind. That often means simplifying complex ideas and avoiding jargon, especially when your buyers aren’t as technically minded as your internal team. We can bridge that gap, turning technical detail into clear, engaging content that speaks directly to the people you want to reach.
We know how to shape messaging that’s both accurate and accessible. We'll take the time to understand your audience—whether they’re decision-makers, users, or purchase influencers—and tailor content that answers their questions, solves their problems, and builds trust. From top-of-funnel awareness to sales enablement materials, Herkess makes sure your content works hard across the buyer’s journey, helping you generate leads and move prospects to becoming clients.
Effective marketing starts with understanding where you’re starting from, where you want to get to, then planning a route to get there. We'll begin with a marketing audit to get a good understanding of what our starting point is and what your strengths and weaknesses are. We'll then learn about your target customer, then do competitor research to see how others in your space are positioning themselves, what’s working, and where the gaps are. Then we'll take a close look at your brand, your messaging, and your value proposition to make sure it’s clear, compelling, and aligned with what your audience actually needs and wants. Whether you’re a tech services provider or a growing SaaS company, this groundwork helps shape a strategy that’s commercially focused.
To turn insight into action, we use a range of planning frameworks to map out what your marketing activity should be and why. It’s a practical way to make sure everything we do is aligned with your goals and is measurable over time. We also use other tools to track performance, refine messaging, and keep your marketing focussed and agile.
PR isn’t just about getting other people to talk about your tech company, it’s about shaping how your brand is seen and perceived. We focus on targeted profile raising and reputation building that supports your wider business goals. Whether you're launching a new product or service, entering a new market, or simply want to be more visible to the right audience, we’ll help you craft stories that resonate. From media outreach and thought leadership to generating high-quality backlinks that support your SEO, PR is a powerful tool for building credibility and driving traffic.
Our approach to PR goes beyond media relations. We also support award submission writing to help you gain recognition. We are experienced in crisis communications so we can help you protect your reputation when things get tough. We can also undertake internal comms that keep your staff informed and aligned.
Social media is a powerful tool for B2B tech companies. It's not just for visibility and lead generation - though that's obviously critically important - it's also about building relationships and conveying the value of what you offer and developing your brand voice.
Herkess can help you develop a clear, focused strategy that aligns with your wider marketing goals, whether you're looking to grow your LinkedIn presence, support a product launch, or share thought leadership content. We also create engaging, audience-friendly posts that simplify complex ideas and spark conversation. It’s not about posting for the sake of it—it’s about showing up with purpose and consistency.
Too often people think of brand as being just a logo and what colours you use on your website and collateral. Brand is what shapes people's first impressions of your business and whether they choose to work with you.
When tech companies are focussed on lead generation, brand can often be treated like a lower priority, but brand can be a crucial factor in whether your website visitors feel like you're the right fit for them and subsequently fill in your website's lead form.
"Emma Radcliffe is the full marketing package and is extremely capable at everything from digital marketing to PR, branding to business development. I’ve learned a lot from working with her."
We know that it's important for small B2B tech businesses to know what things cost so they don't waste time on looking into something they can't afford, so you can find Herkess Marketing's pricing on this page. We price our services based on a day rate, and offer discounts to clients that buy more of our time.
We prefer to work on a retained basis so that we have the chance to really get to know our clients, their target audiences, and can see ongoing progression marketing and results that build over time. However, where appropriate, we'll also work with a client on a project basis.
When Herkess first starts working with a new company, we'll ask them what their key priorities are, and we'll agree some KPIs, and that will be used to prioritise the activity from that point on. That way, all the work that Herkess marketing does is focussed on what matters to you most.
No. We've worked with a variety of businesses over the years. If you're interested in working with Herkess, but don't quite fit the mould of being a small B2B tech business, get in touch. We can have a chat about suitability and if I think we can help you, we'll tell you. If we think that you'd be better off working with someone else, then we'll try to refer you to another company who might be a better fit.
