You need to move your business forward, but hiring a full-time senior marketing manager is expensive. Instead of adding massive overhead, I can step in as your dedicated freelance marketing manager.
I can bring 20+ years of strategic leadership and hands-on experience directly to your business. This means you get the benefit of years of experience in delivering marketing results, without the massive commitment of a permanent salary.
My freelance marketing manager service is designed to help you with both strategy and execution. Whether you have a brilliant plan or are simply struggling to manage your current activity, I can help.
Path 1: You have a new strategy (from my competitive advantage consultancy)
If you've already been through my competitive strategy workshop, this service is the next step. You've invested time and money in a precise blueprint; don't let it start gathering dust or be diluted by inconsistent execution. I'll know the plan inside-out, and can make sure every action taken is aligned with your competitive advantage message.
Path 2: You need consistent leadership (new clients)
If you haven't defined your marketing strategy yet, there's a good chance you're struggling with uncoordinated marketing (or what I'd call 'random acts of marketing'). I can step in to sharpen up the activity you're doing and bring a bit of discipline and experience to your digital and traditional marketing activity, which in turn will deliver better results.
Execution is where most businesses fail. My role as your freelance marketing manager is to ensure your marketing isn't just busy, it's got to be effective too.

Even the best execution needs a roadmap. I'll make sure we're always focused on the bigger picture.
Marketing Audit: I'll start with a free marketing audit to figure out exactly what's working and what's not in your current efforts.
Competitive Advantage: If we haven't already, we'll nail down what makes you unbeatable. This foundation ensures all subsequent marketing efforts communicate the right message.
SOSTAC Planning: I use this trusted framework to build clear, no-nonsense campaign plans—covering where we are, what we want to go, and exactly how we'll get there.
We need to make sure the right clients find you, and quickly. I'll manage these channels to be laser-focused on your goals, not just chasing vanity metrics.
Search Engine Optimisation (SEO): I'll direct the keyword strategy, find quality backlinks, and ensure your website is set up to attract the high-value buyers you want.
Pay-Per-Click (PPC): I can handle the management of your paid campaigns to make sure every pound you spend targets the people most likely to deliver convert from leads into paid clients.
I'll help you communicate your expertise and nurture valuable leads by making sure your content is genuinely useful and persuasive.
Blogs & White Papers: I'll write expert articles and detailed reports that build your authority and guide prospects through the decision-making process.
Sales Collateral: I'll work with your sales team to develop clear, compelling materials (brochures, info sheets, case studies) that make it easier to close deals.
Credibility is currency. I use smart, low-cost methods to raise your brand profile and earn third-party recognition.
Media Relations (PR): I reach out to relevant media to secure valuable press coverage and get your brand in front of the right people.
Social Media Strategy: We move past just 'posting' and develop a clear, professional social media plan that actually supports your brand authority and lead generation goals.
Award Submissions: I manage the entire process of award entry writing, turning your business successes into industry trophies that boost trust and help you win bigger clients.
Your brand needs to look and sound professional and consistent everywhere. I ensure every touchpoint reinforces your competitive edge.
Positioning: I'll make sure your unique value proposition is communicated consistently and clearly in all marketing materials.
Strategy: I'll help you define your brand tone of voice so you can connect emotionally and professionally with your specific target audience.
Development: I'll oversee your brand identity to ensure it always looks sharp, credible, and worthy of the high-value clients you're aiming for.
"Emma is a true marketing professional. She took on a huge task with our business - a legacy of no formal marketing. Emma grabbed the opportunity, challenged, cajoled and transformed our business in terms of it's understanding and appreciation of brand, sales and marketing. She is a pleasure to work with, works hard, is diligent, challenges our thinking and stands by her principles, she's also a great person to have around."

Experienced marketers are expensive to employ. By working with a freelance marketing manager, you get someone with senior level expertise, and don't have to pay for salary, benefits, national insurance, pension. You also get a lot of flexibility, so you very easily 'dial up' the level of support you get as and when you need it.
This can be an ideal situation. If they are struggling to do as much activity as they'd like, I can be an additional pair of hands and turn marketing outputs around quickly. There may be some areas of marketing that your in-house marketer is less confident in and I can act as a mentor helping them to improve their skillset for the future whilst simultaneously getting the work done.
Unlike most fractional CMOs/marketing directors, I will do the activity myself in addition to giving strategic direction. The only tasks I'll outsource are technical tasks (e.g. technical SEO) because I want to be confident that the work is done to the highest possible standard and I'm not confident enough in my technical abilities to be able to do that.
Every business and industry is different. The results I can help you achieve will depend on a number of factors: how much time I have, how competitive your industry is, how sophisticated your marketing is at the moment, plus a number of other things. That being the case, it's impossible to be able to give an accurate timeline, but I would hope to have some positive results to show you in the first 3-6 months.
