Emma Radcliffe, founder of Herkess Marketing
I have more than 20 years of marketing and PR experience and have worked with a range of businesses, doing lots of different things, which has helped me build up my skillset.
There are far too many projects to mention in detail so here are just a few examples of the work I’ve done.
I worked with Saturn Visual Solutions, an audio visual consultancy, to help them identify their competitive advantage, create alignment across their staff as to what that competitive advantage was and the specific wording to use when talking about it.
I devised a series of marketing/PR campaigns (using a modest budget) to promote that competitive advantage, and in doing so created eight white papers that could be used as sales collateral, and delivered 10 press releases and 1000 backlinks as a result, increasing the company’s rankings in search engines. This increased site visitors by 1100% and generated a steady stream of SQLs (sales qualified leads) coming into the business.
I also helped them improve their brand, changing how it was applied to give it a new look and feel that would stand out (without actually changing their logo, brand colours etc.), and generally making the company look more modern and prestigious.
I worked with Mathys & Squire, an IP law firm, to help them clarify their competitive advantage, moving away from focussing on the heritage of the company, and more on the specific technical expertise that it could offer, and their success rates. I then helped to communicate these changes to the fee earners which aided their BD efforts.
I also helped them modernise their brand and create more practical, and interesting collateral. I created more original content for their website, and helped them reduce their event costs by 75% by introducing new best practice guidelines. I supported fee earners with their own BD activity, helping them to finesse it. I also used social media to help the firm generate leads.
I worked with XpertRule, an automated decision-making AI software platform, that wanted to adjust their brand and messaging to better reflect the software they offered, which had evolved over the years. I helped them to create a new look and feel, revised messaging, a new website, and collateral.
I worked with Lambert Smith Hampton, a commercial property consultancy, to help them increase their profile in the North West of England using PR, and improve their internal communication. I increased the volume of press coverage generated for the region by 400%.
I delivered a BD engagement/improvement project for fee-earners to help them secure more high value work. I also developed an internal communications campaign to increase engagement for company initiative and increased participation by 700%.
I wrote the company's award entries and delivered a 60% win rate and helped them to get shortlisted for 100% for the awards they entered. I was also involved in crisis communications PR.
I worked with Daisy Group’s SME division devising profile-raising PR and marketing campaigns. I created a new suite of sales collateral to help SMEs understand internet speeds and VoIP technology. The 'beginners guide to connectivity' quickly became the most downloaded piece of content on the (very large) website as a result.
I increased press coverage for the whole PR team (four people) by 16%. I did this by working with the sales teams and company’s experts, and suggesting mutually beneficial partnerships with other organisations. I created the company’s most successful PR campaign ever (with a budget of less than £500), which resulted in more than 1200 additional website visits, and an AVE (advertising value equivalent) of £1.4m.
I also worked with the company on internal communications campaigns, and delivered exhibition/conference support. At one conference, I used a survey among delegates to generate 250+ sales leads and the material for a PR campaign for a budget of under £300.
